About This Trek
The Dayara Bugyal trek is a short yet incredibly scenic journey in the Garhwal Himalayas, ideal for those looking to experience high-altitude meadows without extreme difficulty. The trail begins through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, gradually opening up into expansive alpine grasslands known as bugyals.
As you gain elevation, the views become wider and more dramatic, revealing peaks like Bandarpoonch, Draupadi Ka Danda, and Gangotri range. Camps are set in vast open meadows, offering stunning sunsets and star-filled skies. The trek combines gentle ascents with rewarding views, making it perfect for beginners and families while still being visually spectacular.
In August and September, the meadows are a riot of wildflowers. By October, the grasslands turn golden and you get some of the clearest mountain views of the year. Either window is extraordinary.
Why This Trek With Karan
Dayara Bugyal is a trek I love precisely because it's so accessible yet so beautiful. It's the kind of trek that gets people hooked on the Himalayas — and I lead it with the same care I bring to technical expeditions. Small groups, proper camping setup, good food, and real attention to each person's experience.
For groups new to trekking, this is one of the best entry points in the Garhwal — manageable distances, reasonable altitude, and scenery that speaks for itself.
Who Is This For
- First-time trekkers and those new to the Himalayas
- Families with older children (12+)
- Groups wanting a long weekend or short escape into the mountains
- Anyone looking for spectacular alpine landscapes without the physical demands of a longer high-altitude trek
No prior trekking experience required. A reasonable level of fitness (comfortable walking 4–5 hours) is sufficient.

The meadow day. Ascend into the vast open expanse of Dayara Bugyal — grasslands stretching in every direction, with Bandarpoonch (6,316m), Draupadi Ka Danda, and the Gangotri peaks as backdrop.
